Ziny in four minutes:

What is Ziny?

Ziny operates fairly simple: Doing one hour of sense full community work gives one Ziny. And after this the Ziny can be used for trading services and goods. And in such a far more clear intrinsic value is introduced: 1 Ziny = one hour of work. Ziny does not operate in debt, interest, derivatives and speculation.  More you can read in the Q&A below.

Reason for designing Ziny Currency: Nowadays banks have transformed into platforms which earn their money primary on the ‘interest-margin business’ and not on ‘providing for a currency’. This ‘bank-DNA’ might never change, and might keep on driving bonuses upwarts and keep on pushing added value for society downwards. Only making a ‘mini quantum leap’ (disconnect from debt) in our commonly used payments platforms can change this.

Why would you join Ziny? A possible reason: Because you want to be part of the change you want to see in your world. And secondary to be able to mine some additional liquidity yourself and work together with nice cooperative fellow citizens!

Money aspects: Debt&Interest | Place of emission | Speculation | Golden Standard | Global fairness | Coordination function & workflow

Some important definitions in this Q&A:

Money is used as a term for currencies which are characterized with one of the following elements: Debt & Interest – used for loans, credits, mortgages, etc. | Emission profits not shared with the common people equally | Inflanting inflation and thus finally  | Possession focus and not labor balancing focus | Used for speculation. Dollar, yen, euro, bitcoin, qualify all as ‘money’ in this definition.

Currency is used as a broader term, money is a currency, but not all currencies are money in this sense. Ziny is not money in the above descripted definition. It is a currency though.

Work is defined here as ‘an activity which is asked for by a community as being something of communal interest’.

Question and Answers (Q&A):

Questions: Who are the Ziny user at this moment?

Take a look here.

Question: What can I do with my Ziny’s?

Answer: Being able to use a certain currency is always a potential succes factor for that currency system. Via the Ziny Dashboard you find a link to a Ziny Service Providers map. Off cours, this grows step by step. And you can help by starting to provide that would you offer to society (services  / goods), or what you would like to offer, on this map. As an example, in the city Amersfoort some most common business line services are getting organized:

And step by step more will be added, ideally having a service line of all important common economic services arranged for. And thus providing for in potential a closed loop economic cycles in a same geographic sphere. DoGoodPromotions offers for instance services on website development (basic WordPress) and twitter promotion, which can be fully paid in Ziny.

Question: How do I get Ziny’s?

Answer: There are two ways to obtain Ziny’s.

Option 1: Do work from the Ziny work queue. A work stream in which everybody can participate is doing a clean walk (pick up rubbish), with a limit of 1 Ziny per quarter. One hour of work gives one Ziny. In the Netherlands a thing called ‘participation society’ (participation economy) is getting trending. The way Ziny’s are mined / earned fits in perfectly in this concept: By doing work for society you earn Ziny’s.

Option 2: Trade your goods or services for Ziny. This works in the same manner as that ‘money’ works. Together with the service or goods provider you’ll find a proper price, and make the transaction.

Question: How do I pay with Ziny?

Answer: Quite simple. You can 1. Log in via the web with your user name and password, of 2. Log in via the Cyclos app (see this link for availability on Google Play Store).

Question: Is Ziny a cryptocurrency?

Answer: No. Typical cryptocurrency technology is not used. Via the Ziny currency dashboard transactions are viewable for all (transparency requirement).

Question: Nice that I can offer my products in Ziny, but most of my costs are in euro’s!

Answer: This is a common potential pitfall. Therefore a hybrid and practical usage has been defined, which feel sense-able for at least the coming 15 years. As a provider you don’t ask the whole price in Ziny, but you ask a ‘hybrid’ price, like 20% in Ziny, te rest in euro’s. A common economic model is that service providers put a margin on top of there basic costs to make profit. Mostly this is about 10 to 70%, so this can be ‘given away’ without making a potential loss in euro’s. And if one imagines that maybe more customers will knock on your door because they are looking for places where they can use there Ziny’s (and preferable at economic parties which also strive for a more cooperative and sense full economy)… In such we bring our currency (energy/blood) to other economic organs which we would like to sustain of even see grow. Instead of bringing our currency to institutes which we actually would prefer to see to become smaller or even ‘go’.  Realise that by using your money / currency wisely you have a stronger voting power than which political party you vote for. Back to the ‘Ziny discount model’: Most shops / service providers already have a ‘discount button’ on there cash desk (‘kassa in Dutch’) in in such no or minimal additional book keeping is required. The additional book keeping is done by the Cyclos system, if people add in the payment notes the required details (the product / service and the Ziny discount calculation). Maybe even more practical it could be to write this on the ticket, make a photo and post in on your Facebook and add a link to this photo in the payment note (in such all administration is stored immediately for all parties involved).

Question: What are tax consequences?

Answer: In general tax legislation says that using another currency is all right, as long as tax is paid in te local currency. To calculate this the ‘latest’ conversion (price) towards that local currency should be used. For 2018 and 2018 a conversion of 1 Ziny = 20 euro’s is advised (service providers like DoGoodPromotions use this conversion rate to offer their services).

Question: Is the Ziny platform a bank?

Answer: No, as it does not provide credits / loans.

Question: Nice this new currency, but I believe in a world without money…

Answer: As stated at the beginning of this page (definition of money), Ziny is no money. And, in addition the underlying migration philosophy has a horizon of about 30 to 80 years. Remember that even without money work still needs to be done. And money also has very powerful aspects, which can not be arranged for with ‘going back to trading a cow for a hammer’. One of these aspects could be described with ‘creating a global workflow system’, which provides for for goods and services in a sense full (and thus in eco balance with earth) fashion. A first migration step is to get rid of corrupting aspects money has: debt, possession focus, unfairness, etc. A second migration step is that we tune up a way of living in which we realize that we don’t need a currency or money at all, as long as we work a certain amount or hours a week in a dedicated and organised fashion together. Ziny also let’s us practise with this latter facet, as well with how we can define sense full work (Ziny citizen councils). So, in such a sort of ‘learning academy’ created which slowly develops our collective skills to run an economy without money. For certain more isolated places this can take place within some years, but for others it might take 80 years to grow… step by step action. As long as we migrate towards a vision like this… finally we’ll get there.

Answer: Ziny has been designed to create a debt-free world. And interest free. Members are asked to not to put each other in debt. If members do so, this can lead to an account suspend (normally after a warning and or tuning up). Debt and interest are considered to be a sort of virus which slipt into the money system. The sooner or later it grows as a cancer until the carrying body collapses. Interesting to note that there might be a connection between a ‘you were born guilty’ religious thinkings and the organic development debt based financial system. More and more people seem not to want to follow a ‘you were born guilty’ fashion… wish also might enable the way to create a economy without debt and guilt. See also this topic on ‘interest parasite’ [TODO: add link], which describes how interest slowly disrupts our society varying from the fact that mothers are separated from their young born to a society in which people can work to take for the elders, but there is no money to pay for it.  In other words: There is hardly an economic reform thinkable which makes more sense than start to use interest free currencies / systems, the interest ‘disruption’ breaks every social subsystem (schooling, food, energy supplies, health care, etc.). Also the creation of all kinds of ‘soul killing’ work could be an effect of the ‘interest parasite’ principle. Or you could name it ‘modern slavery’ (those who have the possession and money let the people who don’t have possession and money work for them, almost like slavery, but this is camouflaged by the systems in between…).

Question: But the economy needs investments, loans and credit to develop?

Answer: Why? We as a society created such an economic system, but in essence credit, loans, etc. are not needed. Combined usage of resource sounds logic, there are a lot of fund raise platforms being developed which might fit in this ‘gap’. Real economic innovation lies on creating an economy which is not based on debt. A reason why the ‘Northern countries’ ‘have to pay’ for countries like Italy and Greece, is that we created a debt-based-EU, tying it all together with debt. If there would be no debt, countries can set there own economic pace and other countries do not have to pay for others.

Question: Why another currency? We have crypto currencies already, LETS, and various other systems.

Answer: Good question. That is one of the reasons it took about 10 years to design and develop Ziny-currency: First all kinds of existing systems were examined and or tried out. It is felt that the combination of Ziny-workflow councils in combination with a mining concept, and consequently a usual currency is a unique design. Which brings aspects together (like a conscious guiding of work), which many other systems don’t provide in. For those who feel the interest, take a look at this -free- ebook: People powered money. The Ziny-currency comes most close to the ‘Sp!ce’ platform (see the book), but the difference are the citizen council emission grid and more free exchanging of currents (Ziny’s) (as it seems).

Question: Quite some complementary currency systems focus on providing interest free loans. Does Ziny do this as well?

Answer: No. One of the reasons: Debt without interest feels as a strange combination. It feels more sense full to create more nuanced concepts for all forms of transactions on the spectrum between ‘debt’ and’ giving’. And… what if a loan isn’t repaid? Are we going to send debt collectors again to peoples doors? And with banks / investment companies the department which judges if people can take a debt, and ‘chases’ repayment later, are work and skills intensive organizations. Who is going to do that work? But, important to note: not providing for credit is a decisions out of principles: guilt and loans are considered to be destructive and not required economic concepts. Fundraising platforms might be able to replace credit facilities.

Question: Whats is workflow or a workflow system?

Answer: Workflow systems helps to model and organize work. Like breaking a task into action, or a project into tasks. And it helps to keep people informed about what the other does, total progress, who has already picked up a task, etc. Money has an intrinsic function to provide in this ‘coordination function’. Theoretically we can run our economy without money and with one or a network of workflow systems in place. More you can read here on the Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Workflow_management_system. A most simple variant is a task list from which people can choose. At this moment it has been decided to use Google spreadsheet for this, publicly viewable. Everybody can reach it via the Ziny-dashboard. If a Ziny user does work from this (work) flow, he or she can request for a Ziny at the Ziny administrator (and thus ‘mines’ a Ziny).

Question: Why does an account cost euro’s (and not Ziny)? (A contribution of 15 euro’s a year (18,15 incl VAT in the Netherlands) is asked for a Ziny account).

Answer: Like every activity in this world the activity provider needs a base facility to feed itself (a home, food, transport, communication services and health care). Providing Ziny requires time by the administrator / servicing person(s). At this moment the bases facilities are provided via paying euro’s, so we need to ask for euro’s to make it happen. Within time however it is felt that more and more people can pay the Ziny contribution fee in Ziny, as we transform our world more and more to be fed with Ziny like systems (imagine that the Ziny service providing human can buy it’s food with Ziny, than we can start to make it possible to pay the Ziny constribution fee partly in system). Note this ‘partly paying’ for something is also named ‘hybrid currency system’ or a ‘hybrid price’, for instance instead of paying 15 euro’s one can pay 10 euro’s and 0,25 Ziny.
